A Stargirl Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. Parts 1 and 2 Synopsis

Warning, this article contains spoilers for specific episodes for the C.W. series Stargirl.

Stargirl’s first season had quite the ending. It makes the viewers want to watch more and increases the frustration with the slow release of season two. Stargirl’s executive producer Geoff Johns undoubtedly planned on this happening. You can find brief hints to what is to come throughout these episodes.

Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. Part One

In part one, you can see the culmination of the Injustice Society’s nefarious plan to create like-minded individuals through a mind-control device. At the same time, the Gambler is to shut down worldwide communications. The first part of this plan is to kill Stargirl, her team, and her family.

This part eventually fails, but other pieces of their diabolical plot do succeed. As Tigress and Stargirl are fighting, a battle rages between Crusher and S.T.R.I.P.E, who, after a protracted fight, finally manages to conclude with both Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E. victorious. All the while, Shiv attempts to join the Injustice Society unsuccessfully.

Meanwhile, Brainwave activates his machine, and as he is overlapping the plan with other minds, the machine begins to generate an enormous amount of power. It eventually starts to short out, possibly killing Brainwave. As all of this is going on, the Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. team decides the best bet is to move the family and friends into a remote cabin for safety.

At the cabin, they find the Injustice Leagues base and tunnels, which should allow them to get entry. Off Hourman, Stargirl, Wildcat, American Dream, and S.T.R.I.P.E. go into the tunnels. At first, they enter separately, and they encounter each other while Beth, Dr. Mid-Nite, tries to make sense of their diabolical plan. At the end of the episode, the brain takeover begins, and Stargirl is left facing S.T.R.I.P.E., who is fighting mind control.

Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. Part 2

This begins with several scenes of parents not responding to their children before picking up with Stargirl fighting S.T.R.I.P.E. Desperately trying to get through to him, she eventually realizes that fighting the brainwashing could kill him. While this is going on, the team finds low-frequency blockers that might help stop Brainwave from getting to all of the adults in the complex. They eventually figure it out, getting all of their adult heroes back.

You see Solomon Grundy being let out to fight S.T.R.I.P.E. This begins the final fight. As Wildcat and Stargirl try to fight Shiv and the other supervillain, Hourman and Grundy also engage in battle. While this fight is going on, Dr. Mid-nite’s glasses are destroyed by the Gambler, leaving Beth helpless.

The season wraps up with a cliffhanger. Shiv (Cindy) is seen looking through the Wizard’s storage room. She finds and holds up a small black diamond. The black diamond contains the energy that is the next great supervillain, Eclipso. At the end of the season, S.T.R.I.P.E. and Stargirl are seen sitting on a water tower. This indicates that the animosity seen between them at the beginning of the season is over.

Although the last episodes of the season wrap up many of the ongoing story arcs, it still leaves many questions to be answered. Answers that everyone hopes will be found in the second season, which is slated for 2021.
